LITTLE JOY
I know the blog has been slacking for over a week now, but today is my birthday and I'm not about to spend the majority of it on the internet. Fun fact: I'll actually be spending most of the day cleaning.
And since my gifts did not include a timeshare in Brazil, I'll have to be contented with some cheap beer and music like this.

SAINTS AND MARTYRS
You might find these photos a little intense so early in the morning, but this photograph series by George Krause was too good not to share. He apparently started the series in 1963 while on assignment in Mexico for a Sports Illustrated feature on boxing.
High contrast black and white photographs compliment the high contrast of beauty and terror present in each piece. They remind me a lot of the time I spent in Lourdes on my way to the next Tour de France stage. I don't happen to affiliate myself with any religion, but it was definitely an experience I won't ever forget.

HANGING BY A THREAD

Dry Toast is an amazing visual blog focusing on vintage book design. I especially loved this post from a vintage book on puppetry.

THINGS I'VE LEARNED...
Who knew that simply writing down your stream of thought could be so sweet and poignant. Illustrations by Kelly Lasserre.

THE COLOUR OF ART

Joshua T. Nimoy calculated the average colour from 26,000 images in the MoMa art collection. The result, apparently, was this grey colour. Specifically, #A79F94.
