Some Recent Vintage Finds

There is a place in Winnipeg called Triple A Consignment which, bar none, carries the most outrageous deals and steals for vintage furniture, art, housewares, and the like. I recently got a set of 5 Lagostina pots and pans (with lids) in perfect condition for $55! My kitchen table cost $30, and recently, the bakery I work at bought an amazing display hutch for $150. We stopped by there today on our way back from a cake delivery and I picked up a few things:

All together, I've been set back five dollars. The 3D pic of Whistler's mother was just way too weird to pass up. The funniest part is that on the back, the paper reads:

"Genuine Plastic Filled
Three Dimensional Picture
Made in Canada
PLASTIC PICTURES
(Canada) Limited
Toronto
Beware of non-filled imitations!"

Beware of non-plastic filled imitations?? What? Also recently found...this coffee table in a back alley. We thinks it might be teak.

And this desk, which I've begun painting white. I bought it at a Mennonite charity thrift store for $45.

All in all, my little apartment is slowly coming together. I still need a couch, though. The living room is certainly a little empty without it...

I'm Baaaaack

Long story short: two weeks...life...without internet...make hard. Thankfully, high speed has now been installed, life may resume as usual.

New Hair

Am saving this picture as reference material for my next hair appointment. The fall leaves remind me that in two months it will be winter again...

Brilliance in its simplicity. The way signage is supposed to be.

New Cake!

Anything that allows me to sit in a corner for hours painting small details makes me happy. The tablecloth, mug, and pencil are all made out of fondant while the newspaper and napkin were made with gumpaste. The crossword was actually customized by the client with their own clues and then painted on by hand. Oh and the scone is real, I added it at the last minute from the front counter.
